We have been passionate photographers since the mid 1980's. During our years of raising a family we both followed other career paths while studying and working with photography during every spare moment. Then, in 1999, with the children grown, we began working as full time professional photographers specializing in nature, travel and photo journalistic photography. Our love of photography, as well as our avid curiosity about this vast and wonderful world we inhabit, takes us to many intriguing locales.
After living most of our lives in the Pacific Northwest and building an impressive collection of images from that area, we are now home based in Tucson, Arizona. Current projects include extensive work with the patterns and colors unique to the American Southwest, featuring primarily Arizona but also including our "Colors of Mexico" collection. Our photographs are well known for their vibrant color - a celebration of the joyous mood of our sun drenched Southwest region.
You will find our photos and travel articles in many National magazines including, Motorhome, Trailer Life, Oregon Coast, Washington, Country, and National Geographic. Our fine art prints are available at a limited number of Art Festivals throughout the Tucson area, or through our website www.photographybythane.com .
Printing, Matting, FramingWe print, mat and frame all of our own photographs except those over 13" X 19" or those on canvas which we have printed commercially. Printing is done using a Giclee process with fine archival inks & papers. All matting material is acid free.
Canvas gallery wrap Our fine art canvas photographs are an exciting alternative to traditionally matted and framed paper prints. With their rich colors and ease of care they have become our preferred form of presenting our work to you.We finish our canvas photographs with a mirror edge so no frame is necessary. Then we have them printed on a fine archival canvas using a giclee process which merges the use of professional large format printers with archival pigment inks. Using precise color management these prints render subtle gradations and many colors that would be impossible with other technologies. A final coat of Protective UV sealer leaves your fine art canvas ready to hang and be enjoyed for a lifetime or more.
Due to many of your requests we are currently experimenting with printing pictures on a metal background. We'll keep you posted.
Call or email us with any questions or to order an image in the size you choose. Though your picture may be printed in most any size you can see our prices page for the most common sizes.
We guarantee our work and will replace any picture, at our cost, if you should experience any problem.

Giclee -- from French, commonly pronounced "zhee-clay", is the use of the ink-jet printing process for making fine art digital images. The term - from the French verb gicler meaning "to squirt, to spray". The word giclee was coined by Jack Duganne to represent any digital print used as fine art. ---From Wikipedia.
